On July 28, my sister Joanne and her friend Amanda came to
visit the park! They arrived a little before lunchtime, so we started with a
walk at Montauk Spring. It was as lovely as ever, although I was disappointed
they didn’t get to see the muskrat. Or even a snake!
This is one of those pretty little flowers that is too small to make it into the flower book.
They had picked up Subway sandwiches on the way here, so we had a picnic. Afterward we walked to the Old Stone Shelter, built by the CCC, to look for bats. And we found them!
It was easier to get pictures of these, because there’s light
coming in from all sides, rather than just the one glaring doorway in the mill.
There weren't quite as many when I went to peek at them on the way out of Montauk. I still loved seeing them!
